Dedicated to Bold Innovation in Vital Organ Therapies
We continuously pursue vital organ therapy innovations that prioritize the patient and the clinician. We have pioneered these therapies for 70 years — from introducing home peritoneal dialysis (PD) that may enable patients to better fit therapy into their lives, to acting as a transformative force in both continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and hemodialysis (HD).
Therapies for kidney care and beyond
Over the years, we have relentlessly advanced our therapy offerings with innovative products, integrated digital solutions and services aimed at saving and extending lives and improving patient quality of life.
Preserving patient freedom with PD
Our PD products and services can help people with kidney disease to maintain their chosen lifestyle. As a kidney care company, we were the first to make this therapy broadly available to patients,1 and we continue to drive it forward. We have introduced a range of dialysis solutions that can be used to meet individual needs and have advanced the use of automated PD systems with digital connectivity. Digital connectivity for automated PD systems, also referred to as two-way remote patient management, gives clinicians greater visibility into a patient’s adherence patterns, which may allow for earlier intervention and give patients peace of mind, knowing that their care team is monitoring their daily treatments.
Expanding the potential of HD
Keeping individual patient needs always at the forefront, we offer multiple HD therapy options. Our artificial kidney family of HD machines, first introduced more than 50 years ago, has continually evolved through groundbreaking technology. Performed using a range of dialyzers, our HD therapies include, where relevant, low-flux, high-flux and expanded hemodialysis. In advancing dialyzer technology, our ever-present goal is bringing hemodialysis filtration closer to that of the natural kidney.
Supporting kidney function with CRRT
For people who experience life-threatening acute kidney injury, recovery of organ function is a critical concern. In the intensive care unit (ICU), clinicians can use our continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) systems to deliver their choice of CRRT modality — slow continuous ultrafiltration, hemofiltration, hemodialysis or hemodiafiltration (where relevant) — to support kidney function while the kidneys recover. Clinician efficiency is enhanced with wireless EMR connectivity to enable auto-documentation of therapy information and the ability to create patient profiles, which streamlines therapy administration.
Extending our impact in organ support
Building on our nearly 30 years of expertise in therapies used in the ICU, we are focused on advancing our critical care therapies to support the kidney and other organs.
